Santa Clara County Youth Task Force

Santa Clara County Youth Task Force

Mission Statement

We, the Youth Task Force, believe that recreational activities and community activism implemented by youth and for youth are effective deterrents to drug abuse, gangs, violence, and teen pregnancy. We also believe that youth leadership, development and education are keys to the healthy progression of today’s leaders.

Objectives

  • To develop youth leadership and community involvement inclusive of a broad spectrum of ethnic, socio-economic, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
  • To engage in recreational activities and community activism implemented by and for youth.
  • To promote the civic involvement and leadership development of youth through the Youth Task Force’s role as adviser to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors regarding issues and initiatives that affect the lives of youth.
  • To give members of the Youth Task Force hands-on experience in identifying community needs and addressing these needs through strategic advocacy.

Who We Are:

The Santa Clara County Youth Task Force (YTF) is a group composed of young people, from the ages of 12 to 18, that strive to make a difference. We serve as an advisory body to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and the Human Relations Commission. We address the issues that teens face on a regular basis. We work to educate teens about the harms that affect their community and strive to find solutions and policies that will make improve the lives of young people today. In doing so, we promote youth activism and advocacy, establishing a firm belief in the importance of youth speaking to youth. From that connection we seek to inspire teens to embrace the culture and diversity around them, to work together and contribute in making positive change for youth.
