Child Advocates of Silicon Valley

Child Advocates of Silicon Valley

Childhood is a precious and critically important time for building self-esteem and nurturing dreams, but some children are faced with extreme challenges. As the Nobel Laureate Poet Gabriela Mistral has written, “ Many things can wait, but a child cannot.” Today almost 1,800 children in Silicon Valley are in immediate need. These children have been abused or neglected and placed in foster care. They have nowhere else to go and often no one to turn to.

Child Advocates Can Make a Difference

Child Advocates is one of the most effective nonprofit organizations in our community. By matching trained volunteers (Advocates) with dependent children, we ensure the needs and best interests of foster children in our program are met. Because our volunteers are court-appointed, they can thoroughly research every aspect of a child’s case, including meeting teachers, social workers and foster parents. Advocates provide reports to the court so judges can make decisions with clear and accurate information. In addition to representing children in court, Advocates serve as friends and mentors.

Our mission is to provide stability and hope to abused children by being a powerful voice in their lives.

Our vision is that every child has a positive view of the future and the opportunity to become a productive, healthy adult.
