The Museum of the San Ramon Valley
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley was founded in 1985 to promote knowledge about the Valley's history and to create a new Museum.
Headed by a board of Trustees, the non-profit Museum sponsors exhibits, gives Depot and Old Town Danville walking tours, provides Indian Life programs for fourth graders and sponsors the Tassajara One-Room School program for third graders. It also collects, stores and protects artifacts from the San Ramon Valley.
The restored historic 1891 Southern Pacific Depot in Danville, CA serves as a museum, a community gathering place and history library. Students and adults doing research on the Valley can be assisted at the library. History is featured in permanent and revolving exhibits and an historical frieze encircling the exhibit area. A Museum Store offers books and mementos for sale to visitors.
A Whistle Stop Lecture series of talks by experts in Valley geology, paleontology, Native Americans, et.al. will be offered. These lectures will provide basic information on Valley history and will be available in printed form.
The Guild was formed in 1998 to support the activities of the Museum. Opening in the summer of 1999 the Museum at the Depot will provide a unique tribute to the rich history of the San Francisco Bay Area's San Ramon Valley. Please join us.
