Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership of Marin

For nearly 50 years, the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (Center) has promoted volunteerism, strengthened nonprofit organizations and provided leadership to develop a vital and engaged community.

The Center fosters and facilitates volunteering through programs like ProBono Marin, a consulting service for nonprofits comprised of older adults, Volunteer Matching through our HandsOn-Volunteer Marin website and one-on-one interviews, non-traditional volunteer opportunities through the Flexible Volunteer Program, and mobilizing emergency volunteers in the aftermath of a disaster.

As a voice for the Marin nonprofit sector and a resource hub we offer an inclusive membership program for nonprofit organizations, businesses and individuals, with unique professional development and networking opportunities. Additionally, we offer an array of consultant and resource referral services, nonprofit executive search and related services for organizations in transition. Comprehensive leadership programs for new, aspiring, mid-level and experienced executives provide a foundation for strong organizations that are better able to serve our community. We bring together experts and practitioners for learning and reflection by presenting the bi-annual Marin Nonprofit Conference and issue-based Forums.

Every year, the Center produces three signature community events – the Heart of Marin which pays tribute to outstanding nonprofits and the volunteers who serve them, the Marin Human Race – the largest community fundraiser in the county benefiting over 110 nonprofits and schools, and the Marin Designers Showcase, a fundraiser for the Center which is produced with the support of over 500 volunteers, providing a venue for local designers to display their talents.
