The Berkeley Historical Society (BHS) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization that serves as a primary resource for the collection and preservation of local history. The Berkeley Historical Society was established during the 1978 Berkeley Centennial Celebration. The BHS History Center is open Thursdays through Saturdays, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and the building is wheelchair accessible.

The Berkeley Historical Society and the Berkeley History Center are located across the street from Berkeley’s Civic Center/Martin Luther Park, and two blocks from the downtown Berkeley BART station in the Veterans Memorial Building, 1931 Center Street.
